Nick Fitzer is a Voice Teacher, Director, and Actor living and working in New York City. He began his pedagogical career while working a graduate assistantship in voice at Indiana University’s prestigious Jacob’s School of Music and has been teaching ever since. The Washington Post called Nick’s Lancelot in Lerner and Leowe’s Camelot “Sensational” in 2018 and he brings the same level of energy and excellence to his voice studio that he brought to his work as an actor. Theatrical credits include; The Shakespeare Theatre of DC, The York Theatre Company, The Rev Theatre, freeFall Theatre, Indiana Repertory Theatre, Michigan Opera Theatre, Opera Theatre of St. Louis, Actor’s Playhouse, and the National Theatre of Ecuador.
As a director, Nick has been helming youth productions and musicals for Brooklyn Heights prestigious Childs Play NY for the last six years. In that time he’s directed more than two dozen productions, often directing up to three shows simultaneously.
Nick’s students run the gamut from children to adults. He specializes in foundational technique and building voices from the ground up. Nick’s students have been accepted to prestigious high school and collegiate programs and regularly perform on Broadway, at Lincoln Center, and across the country. He encourages his students to sing for themselves and to love the sound of their unique voice.
