Kaitlyn Louise Smith (she/her/hers) is an NYC-based professional dancer, teaching artist, and choreographer with a BFA in Musical Theatre and a Dance Certificate from Indiana University. With over a decade of teaching experience, she has worked with educational programs including New York City Center, Interlochen Center for the Arts, the Muny Teens, and the National Dance Institute in New York City.
Additionally, Kaitlyn serves as an adjunct professor of MT Dance for both Manhattan School of Music and Marymount Manhattan College (soon to become Northeastern University). In Fall 2025, she associate-choreographed Manhattan School of Music’s production of The Mystery of Edwin Drood. She has taught and choreographed for numerous collegiate musical theatre programs, including the University of Wisconsin, Northwestern State University of Louisiana, Southwestern College, and Indiana University. She also adjudicated for the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival in 2024.
Kaitlyn was an original cast member of the First National Tour of Mean Girls, where she founded the advocacy initiative @changeisfetch, partnering with youth arts organizations and schools to raise funds and provide arts education opportunities.
A St. Louis native, Kaitlyn has performed professionally in over 10 productions at the MUNY and most recently served as Dance Captain for the regional debut of Waitress. Favorite roles include Tracy Turnblad, which she originated aboard RCCL’s newest production and later performed regionally this year at Casa Mañana and Sacramento Music Circus. Other regional credits include Dance Ensemble, u/s Flounder in The Little Mermaid (Paper Mill Playhouse), Urleen in Footloose (Flat Rock Playhouse), and Stepsister Grace in Cinderella (Flat Rock Playhouse). TV/Film credits include Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed (Apple TV) and Saturday Night Live.
Kaitlyn’s goal as an educator is to provide a safe, creative, and inclusive learning environment where students feel inspired, informed, and empowered. She believes deeply in mentorship, positive representation, and leading by example: “If I can do it, you can too.
