Julia is a multi-hyphenate theatre artist and educator living in New York City. Originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan, she began her training at Ann Reinking’s Broadway Theatre Project and the Grand Rapids Ballet. A graduate of Penn State University’s Musical Theatre program, Julia was a recipient of the Presidential Scholarship for Musical Theatre.
Julia’s associate directing and choreography credits include Blood/Love (Off-Broadway), Gypsy (Cape Playhouse), and A Chorus Line (Transcendence Theatre Company). Her work as a director and choreographer includes Adele’s Belles and Women of Rock (currently seen on Norwegian and Celebrity Cruise Lines) and Newsies, Matilda, and The Little Mermaid (Marymount).
As a performer, Julia appeared as Judy on the national tour of A Chorus Line, directed by Baayork Lee, featuring Michael Bennett’s original choreography. Regional favorites include Paper Mill Playhouse, Sacramento Music Circus, Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera, Atlanta Theatre of the Stars, Cape Playhouse, Transcendence Theatre Company, American Pops Orchestra, and Pennsylvania Centre Stage. Television appearances include Live From Lincoln Center (PBS) and Billy on the Street.
Julia is a passionate arts educator, teaching in New York City and across the country. She has proudly been an MTCA dance coach for over a decade and is currently on the musical theatre faculty at AMDA.
