Alex Lyons is a Roanoke, Virginia native and currently lives in West New York, New Jersey. Alex has a Master of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre Vocal Pedagogy from Boston Conservatory at Berklee and a Bachelor of Science in Music with a double emphasis in clarinet and classical voice from Radford University. Alex is a kind, generous, and versatile teacher specializing in all styles including western classical, musical theatre, and contemporary commercial music (CCM). Having a flexible and dependable voice in both genre and technique is a primary focus for all of his students.

Alex has almost a decade of experience teaching private voice lessons to many different students. His students have ranged from advocational to professional with age ranges varying from young singers just getting started to older adults looking to refine their sound. Alex’s pedagogical approach to voice lessons revolve around the student’s ability to self identify vocal progression through sensation based evaluation and physiological understanding. Alex believes in the cross-training between the instrumental and vocal world. With a growing demand for performers to diversify their abilities and skills, he believes students do not need to limit their potential or interests.

Alex is currently an adjunct professor at the University of Mount Saint Vincent teaching Musical Theatre History. He is also a proud partner vocal coach with The Hustle NYC. Alex is an accomplished singer/songwriter. He released his debut album “Creator” in 2025 focusing on his experience with money insecurity, unsettled sense of belonging, and gay culture.
