Ben Salters is a Sacramento-based teaching artist, vocal technician, and versatile performer with a passion for helping singers build healthy, sustainable, and marketable voices for today’s musical theatre industry. He holds dual Master’s degrees in Musical Theatre Vocal Performance and Vocal Pedagogy from New York University as well as a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and a BFA in Acting from William Carey University.

Balancing life as both a performer and educator, Ben maintains a thriving private voice and piano studio, coaches students for collegiate and professional musical theatre auditions, and continues performing throughout the Sacramento and San Francisco areas. He has also served as adjunct faculty at NYU Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development and the Alabama School of the Arts in Birmingham, AL. Ben specializes in musical theatre vocal technique and audition coaching with a pedagogical approach rooted in healthy, efficient vocal coordination and contemporary voice science. He is passionate about helping singers develop confidence, vocal freedom, stamina, and long-term vocal health while building technique that can withstand the demands of collegiate training and professional performance schedules. His teaching emphasizes individualized instruction, stylistic authenticity, and developing versatile crossover performers capable of navigating musical theatre, classical, pop, rock, jazz, folk, and country styles safely and sustainably.

As a performer, Ben has appeared in productions across the country, with notable roles including George in The Drowsy Chaperone, Tom Collins in Rent, Julian Marsh in 42nd Street, Phil Davis in White
Christmas, and Henry Higgins in My Fair Lady. He has additionally served as Voice Captain for ensembles at regional theatres including Goodspeed Musicals, Post Playhouse, and Music Theatre Wichita.

Over the last 10 years, his students have gone on to perform in Off-Broadway productions, national tours, regional theatres, and collegiate musical theatre programs across the country. Through his coaching, Ben strives to equip performers with the technical foundation, artistry, adaptability, and confidence needed for long-term success in the performing arts.
