Brian Steven Shaw (HE/HIM) currently resides in Sacramento, CA, and is originally from Los Angeles. He earned his BFA in Musical Theatre at California State University Fullerton, where he was one of only 10 students selected into the program. His training instilled a deep appreciation for the value of a strong, well rounded Musical Theatre education and continues to shape his work as both a performer and educator. Since graduating, Brian has been a proud working Actor’s Equity performer with over 16 years of experience performing under the Disney umbrella across multiple divisions, including Disneyland Resort, Disney Cruise Line, Disney on Broadway, and Disney on Tour. He is one of the rare performers to have worked professionally within so many facets of the Disney Company. His performance career has also included extensive Regional Theatre work across the country, including Broadway Sacramento (currently 18 shows over 7 seasons), Pittsburgh CLO, 5th Avenue Theatre, La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts, Theatre Under The Stars, and Starlight Theatre. He toured nationally for 2.5 years with Disney’s The Little Mermaid as the Flotsam and Jetsam understudy before joining the Broadway Company of Frozen as a swing. Following the Broadway production, Brian continued with the North American tour of Frozen, where he understudied Sven and Oaken for 2.5 years. Since returning to Sacramento, Brian has focused heavily on dance and performance education. For the past 2 years, he has taught at the Broadway Sacramento Conservatory, working with students ages 12-18 in dance technique, audition preparation, musical theatre performance, choreography retention, and rehearsal etiquette. His teaching style emphasizes strong technique, confident storytelling, professionalism, and creating a supportive environment where students feel empowered to develop their individual artistry. As a current working performer who continues to audition regularly in New York, Brian brings firsthand knowledge of today’s industry expectations and standards. His experience as a swing has equipped him with a wide range of skills that allow him to support students in many facets of their training. Passionate about mentorship and arts education, Brian is committed to helping young performers grow with confidence, curiosity, authenticity, and joy both in the audition room and beyond.
