Marina Kondo is a first-generation Japanese-American actor, producer, and translator. She began performing professionally at age nine, singing in jazz bars in Tokyo, Japan, and has since appeared in concerts, musicals, television programs, and recordings internationally.
She made her Broadway debut in the original cast of KPOP (Circle in the Square Theatre), playing Susan/Priest and understudying Bobbie in the national tour of Company Revival (U.S. National Tour), and originating Queen Iduna and understudying Anna in the national tour of Disney’s Frozen (U.S. National Tour). Other theatre credits include understudy roles as Tuptim and Lady Thiang in The King and I (Lincoln Center), Ragtime (New York City Center), See What I Wanna See Revival (Out of the Box Theatrics, Off-Broadway), Austen’s Pride (Carnegie Hall), and Road Show (New York City Center Encores!). She also performed regionally in multiple seasons at The Muny (St. Louis).
Her television work includes Succession (HBO). As a music ambassador of Minami-Soma, Fukushima, Japan, Marina has performed at international concerts and festivals in the U.S. (Pendleton Round-Up Rodeo, Oregon), Japan (Hiroshima Peace Memorial Genbaku Dome, Kochi Jazz Festival), and Brazil (Sao Paulo Festival Du Japao).
Recently, Marina translated and starred in Michael John LaChiusa’s Off-Broadway revival of See What I Wanna See, nominated for a 2025 Drama Desk Award for Best Revival of a Musical. She also produced Disney’s Frozen AAPI Month music video “Girl of My Dreams” and created and produced the community music series Bobblehaus Sounds at Bobblehaus’ flagship store in Soho.
